Supporting the UK’s first smart port

At the Port of Tyne the programme expanded the port’s private 5G network to support new operational technologies.

These include AI-enabled systems that inspect road infrastructure, monitor air quality, support autonomous drones for security patrols and infrastructure checks, and detect when safety equipment is not worn correctly. These technologies help improve efficiency, productivity and worker safety, while supporting sustainability ambitions.
