Our Smart City programme prioritises opportunities to utilise digital connectivity to improve the lives of our city’s residents. The delivery of social care services across Sunderland benefit from technology, with our smart solutions helping to ensure that the experiences of service providers and those cared for is effective and accessible. Smart technology in healthcare is enabling the vision outlined in our city plan of a healthy city ‘where people will live healthier, independent lives for longer’.
From a range of sensors supporting safe and effective hospital discharge, to sensors monitoring hydration and falls, our Smart City solutions ensure that those who need the support, can access it. With our underpinning connectivity and data platform, we are also enabling people that need to receive information to do so quickly.
To further improve social and healthcare delivery, Sunderland City Council and Boldyn Networks have partnered with TotalMobile. This collaboration aims to transform care for over 5,000 service users through the introduction of advanced software solutions. Sunderland Care and Support (SCAS) will implement Totalmobile’s products CareLink, Mobilise, Optimise, and Protect, to enhance reablement, planned care, and telecare services.
Technology enabled care has been in place in the city for several years, now supporting around 6,000 people to live safely and independently at home. Further developments in the future will accelerate the number of residents who can access assistive health tech.
The new partnership with TotalMobile will increase SCAS’s operational capacity, enabling caregivers to serve more individuals per shift. By streamlining administrative tasks and optimising workflows, the project will also improve the work-life balance of over 500 caregivers, allowing them to focus on delivering high-quality care. Additionally, the solution ensures the safety of lone workers while reducing costs and carbon emissions.
